Welcome to the Wildcat Blog!

We are so excited you have logged on to our school blog! Since our school has been working hard on literacy strategies across all content, we would like for you to share the knowledge you have gained with your classmates by communicating with one another.

This will be a safe site that you can feel free to share appropriate comments with your friends and teachers here at Centerfield.

A question will be asked once a month on different literacy elements. We are looking forward to seeing the strong conversations that will be taking place!

Visualizing

Visualizing

Think about visualizing and how creating those mental images make your reading come to life. How does that enhance your understanding? How and why will your thoughts change as you read?

I think visulaizing will help you to understand your book better because you can see what your reading and you understand whats happening in the book. You will be able to play a mental movie in your head when you visulaize what you are reading. If the book uses enough detail you should be able to have a very detailed movie in your head, and you can imagine what the characters look like and the setting and other things.

visualizing will help you understand your book better because you can make a movie in your head.It can help you be able to see what your character has on and what she is wearing. You can also see were she is if you make a miltel movie in your head

Visualizing can also let you use your imagination to create a character or scene using what the book has told you.

Visualizing really helps me when I read. if you don't visualize it is just like reading words with no meaning because you don't know what is happening. Like kro5 said it is like a mental movie. You can visualize lots of things...
Your character like srp5 said, the setting, props, scenery and everything in a movie.

kro and hmp great responses like hmp said that if you dont make a mentel movie in your head then you wont be able to understand the book because they wont have describing words and velcro words that stick to if you dont have them then you cant make a mentel movie in your head.

I think visulalizing is a wonderful strategy because it helps you make a mental picture in your head. I use this the most because it is my favorite strategy and it is one of the strategy that people use most ofen. It helps you make a mental movie in your head and sometimes if you do a good job on making a movie you can picture yourself as the main chracter. It alsoi helps you think as the chracter and makes the book come alive more.

i think visulising will help you understand the book to what's going on mainly in the story. Also just by looking at the book cover you can see really what it's about so you will like the story so you'll not like it.

How visualizing helps me with the book is that when the book explains what is going on in that moment you think about it and you visualize and you will get a better understanding of the book. Another way that it helps me is that, when I read the book and it explains what is going on then I can understand the book more thouroughly and to what is happening in the book. So, that is how visualizing helps me become a better reader.

Visualizing helps me to read better because when you use visualizing it gives you a picture in your head .It helps me to see the book better and that helps me read the book better. I used visualizing when I resd the book The SweetWater Run. This bookis realy good for visualizing because it gives you a lot of detail. Thats why visualizing helps you to understand better.

how visualizing helps you as a reader is you can picture what is happening in the book. You can also see what the characters are doing. you can also get a better idea of where the setting is and what it looks like!

I think that visualizing will not only help me become a better reader but can help evryone become a better reader by really making them think of what the book is really about. I think that not only will visualizing help you know what the book is about but it helps you think of all your schema skills. For instance it maakes you think of prdicting whats going to happen next and makes you connect in what you have read and maybey what you know in the book or in the past when you have read other books that you havent really conected or visualized whats happend or preedict what the next book is going to be about.

When we read a book during class called:The Sweet Water Run!I could paint a picture in my haed that they were playing poker in the corner. I could see that because my Dad and I sometimes watch it on TV. That would help me because, When I am reading a chapter book there are no pictures so you have to visualizing the picture in your head. So that how visualizing helps me! :-)

Visualizing is a very important part of reading a story because it helps you to understand the story better. Visualizing helps you understand because it gives you your own picture in your mind of what is happening, instead of what the illustrater decided to draw.
For example, in a book called The Sweetwater Run, I visualized the girl on the horse in pigtails, and that gave me a picture in my own mind of what the girl looked like.
Also, when you visualize, it also helps you because it's like you're in the story, not just someone reading it.

The book The Sweetwater Run helped me with visualizing alot. One of the ways that this book helped me with visualizing. When the book started a sentence with the sentence one chilly November morning in 1860 I threw of my heavy buffalo blanket. I could really see he/she throwing off a buffalo hide. I could also see somebody waking up and looking out of his/her window and say to their self it looks like it's going to be chilly. Last thing you had to ride to Sacremento, California on a horse could you imagine that, I couldn't.

Great comments everyone! Visualizing has to be one of the most easiest strategies to use, because everyone can create a image in their mind! Everyone can visualize if the author uses enough detail when they desicribe something in the book.

ANH5

Visualizing helps me in reading by giving me a mental picture of my book which helps me understand the story better than if i were just reading and not visualizing.

once again i think that kro makes a good point because if you visualize you wont know what is happining in your book but if you do visualize you will understand your book and if you visualize you might realize you are reading a good book.

Great response kro5! You did a great job explaining what visualizing is.

It helps you see whats going on. It also helps you understand the book, by you visualizing the chaticters, setting, and what is happening in your book.

It's all about creating a picture out of just a few main words. It will enhance your understanding by showing what they mean and how they mean it. Sometimes if you don't visualize while your reading you won't understand what the story is trying to tell you, but if you do visualize while you're reading you will better understand it.

It helps me to make a mintal picture in my haed so I can know whats going on. It channges your thoughts because it helps you see the situation the cheracter is in, so you can feel their emations more

The metacognitive skill of vizulizing enhances your understanding of the reading because if " a movie is playing in your head" (vizulizing), you can see what tha auther is "showing" you. You will get a better understanding. Example: Pula was hunched low over the ground, silver streaks painted her face. Whaen I read this I can "see" a girl upset and crying. I can see this in my mind and now understand what message that the aouther was tring to give to me. As you can see vizulazation is a very important metacognitive skill.
With vizulazation you thouts about the book will change because you will get a differant mental image as you read. If I was reading a book about a person who is sad the aouther would explain it differently than if the book was happy. so when
I go to read a book I find the differance. I can see someone crying in a sad book, and I can see a smiling person in a happy book. This is a breif example of how vizulizing helps you in your reading. In the end viulazation helps you in your reading a lot more than you may think.
