Welcome to the Wildcat Blog!

We are so excited you have logged on to our school blog! Since our school has been working hard on literacy strategies across all content, we would like for you to share the knowledge you have gained with your classmates by communicating with one another.

This will be a safe site that you can feel free to share appropriate comments with your friends and teachers here at Centerfield.

A question will be asked once a month on different literacy elements. We are looking forward to seeing the strong conversations that will be taking place!

Inferring

To infer is to make a solid deduction in a short amount of time.

Analyze or think about this statement and explain how inferring can be a help while reading fiction or nonfiction. Remember; a dose of schema + a piece of evidence = a solid inference.

Inferring helps because...Lets say you are trying to make a decision and you can't think of what to choose, inferring helps so you can use your schema. It helps you decide which one you would like to choose. Your background knowledge will help you decide. Inferring helps you read when you infer what is going to happen.

Inferring helps us by making predictions better. Inferring is more predicting but you also use the contex clues to help you infer. If you use infering, you make better predictions.

Sometimes inferring can be fun like a game. When I want to practice inferring, I might play charades which gives me great practice. Have you ever played this game? Can you think of another way we might infer everyday?

Inferring means to predict whats going to happen in the book. Inferring can never be wrong because it's just a guess using your shcema (background knowledge) to figure out what is going to happen next.

Infering is an important strategy. Infering is when you see whats going on in the book and using that knowledge figuring out what's going to happen next. In short it's like predicting except using the the info given. When i was reading CHARLIE BONE and the HIDDEN KING I infered a lot. When all the animals in the town in the book had run away I had to infer that he had to get the animals back somehow since everybody was beating him up about it. I als o had to infer how the tree leaves were able to cure everyone, how they were able to turn into leopards, and how they were going to help everyone. Also, how the tree looked like in it's current state. I also had to infer the reaction of Mr.Bone, Chralie's long lost dad, reaction. In another book MATTIMEO I had to infer what a fox looked like and what it was going to do. I also had to infer a mouse and a little rat on the floor fighting or playing around. Infering is a very important strategy.
